To The Moon And Back

A 10 minute puppet show in a suitcase for family audiences

Go on an adventure with a mini-barn owl with big dreams as she searches the fields for food for her family, all the way to the Moon and back.

To The Moon And Back is a mini-puppet show in a suitcase created for family audiences of all ages, full of beautifully crafted miniature puppets, fun clowning, gorgeous original music and a few surprises along the way. Created by award-winning Barmpot Theatre and commissioned by Lincolnshire One Venues and East Lindsey District Council.

The show is designed to be performed outdoors and indoors, and can be performed up to 6 times in a day, perfect for festival settings. The show works as a stand-alone performance, or can be brought to you in conjunction with craft and nature workshops that run alongside the show, to create an event hub for families to attend.

Reviews for To The Moon And Back:

“The show was utterly charming, with its immensely creative use of puppets that range from micro-puppets to an almost full-sized owl…perfect for the little ones in their prams as well as the older animated children. You will be dazzled and charmed in equal measure.” – Review Culture

“We loved it. My daughter (aged 4) says ‘I loved the puppets. Please can you do another one.” – Audience Feedback

Barmpot Theatre Awarded “Best for Rural Community Theatre Entertainment 2018 – Lincolnshire” in LUX Magazine’s 2018 Entertainment Awards, and finalist for the Off West End Offie awards in 2021 for productions “Nature Elly” and “To The Moon And Back”.

The show can be a standalone performance, part of a larger festival or event day, or we can supply craft and nature workshops to run alongside the performances to create an ‘activity hub’ for audiences.

Previous accompanying workshops have included clay-owl making, seed sowing and nature lab workshops, and we have performed the show as a wraparound activity alongside Luke Jerram’s ‘Museum of the Moon’.
